Ivy Skin Studio Opens in Franklin, TN

Franklin has a new name in skin care. Ivy Skin Studio, a cosmetic and medical dermatology practice on Liberty Pike, opens its doors this October. Founded by Ivy Prothro, DCNP, the studio brings medical dermatology and aesthetic treatments together under one roof, with care plans built around each patient.

That's how Ivy Skin Studio describes itself, and the difference is the medical side. Alongside cosmetic treatments, the practice offers medical dermatology, from acne and rosacea care to skin cancer screening. Every patient gets an individualized, evidence-based plan and an ongoing relationship with a medical provider, rather than a one-off appointment.

Meet the founder: Ivy Prothro, DCNP

Ivy is a double board-certified nurse practitioner, certified in dermatology and in family medicine, and one of only two nurse practitioners in the Nashville area with a dermatology board certification.

• Board certifications: Dermatology (DNPCB) and Family Medicine (ANCC)
• Experience: 7+ years in medical and cosmetic dermatology, and 13 years in medicine overall
• Education: BSN from Auburn University and MSN from Duke University

Ivy began her career as a NICU nurse, earned her nurse practitioner degree at Duke, and went on to practice dermatology in Washington, D.C. She moved to Franklin to be closer to family and to open a practice of her own.

A new home on Liberty Pike

Ivy Skin Studio's new storefront at 1400 Liberty Pike puts the practice in one of the fastest-growing parts of Middle Tennessee, close to Cool Springs and an easy drive from Brentwood and Nashville.

A dermatology practice has specific needs. Ivy looked for space that could support clinical treatment rooms, a welcoming front area for patients, and a private office, which narrows the field quickly compared with standard office space. Finding a storefront that worked for both the medical and the cosmetic sides of the practice was a key step toward opening day.
